California Competes Executive Director Lande Ajose Receives Appointment to WSCUC

California Competes Executive Director Lande Ajose Joins the WASC Senior College and University Commission
The WASC Senior College and University Commission has announced the appointment of California Competes Executive Director Dr. Lande Ajose as one of seven new commissioners. The WSCUC is a regional accrediting agency serving public and private higher education institutions throughout California, Hawaii, and the Pacific. It is one of three divisions of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
“Accreditation is a critical component of ensuring quality for our higher education system, both here in California and across the nation. As postsecondary education continues to evolve, I am honored to help advance the work of the Commission to ensure students are getting the best possible education,” said Dr. Ajose.
The thirty-three commissioners serve three-year terms with the possibility of re-election to a second term. The Commission is led by President and CEO Jamienne Studley who assumed the role in January after serving as the deputy under secretary of the U.S. Department of Education under President Barack Obama from 2013 to 2016.
“I share Jamienne Studley’s commitment to serving students and building better and more equitable pathways to success through our region’s institutions of higher education,” said Dr. Ajose. “It’s exciting to participate in this new chapter of WSCUC’s evolution under her innovative leadership.”
Dr. Ajose continues her role as Chair of the California Student Aid Commission. In addition, she currently serves on the boards of the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP), Equal Measure, and St. Paul’s Episcopal School. Dr. Ajose also serves on the Advisory Committee for the Higher Education Policy Center at the Public Policy Institute of California.
