You’re Invited: Briefing on Higher Education and Latinos

/

We will present new poll results on what California’s Latino voters think about higher education, workforce opportunities, and their expectations of state leaders relating to higher education.

The first briefing will be held in Los Angeles on Wednesday, March 21 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at West LA College (RSVP here) and the second will be held in Sacramento on Friday, March 23 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Sacramento State University (RSVP here).

What do likely Latino voters in California think about higher education? The results of a new poll tell us and shine a light on where change is necessary.

We invite you to attend either of these briefings, where you will have a first look at the findings of a poll conducted by Media Predict to gauge higher education concerns and priorities of likely Latino voters. The findings come at a critical time when Latinos – who represent roughly 14.9 million Californians and make up the largest ethnic group at nearly 40 percent of the state’s population – have potential to significantly impact upcoming elections.

The briefings will include a panel of experts, including Lande Ajose, at the Los Angeles event and California Competes’ Leadership Council member and former State Senator Carol Liu at the Sacramento event. Please join us at either of the briefings, which are free to attend with your registration.http://californiacompetes.org/staff/lande-ajose

These events, focusing on what Latino students need to thrive in California’s new economy, will provide voter-generated data, insights, and connections to guide understanding among state and local elected officials, business leaders, and community leaders of the issues and opportunities to improve higher education in California.
