Conversation Spotlights UC’s Focus on Broadening Pathways to Higher Education

In continued celebration of California Competes’s tenth anniversary, UC President Michael V. Drake joined Executive Director Dr. Su Jin Gatlin Jez to discuss his priorities for the world-renowned institution as it adjusts to changes and lessons learned through the global pandemic.

Though the COVID-19 crisis has exacerbated many challenges across higher education, it has created a major shift and reimagination of the way higher education systems and its leaders educate and support their students, employees, and overall enterprise. That is certainly the case for President Drake and the UC system of 10 campuses, five medical centers, three nationally affiliated labs, and more than 280,000 students and 230,000 faculty and staff.

Equitable access, affordability, and the future of online instruction are among the pertinent topics of focus. View the full conversation and read highlights on California Compete’s blog.
