California Competes Boosts its Organizational Capacity for Impact


Executive Director Dr. Su Jin Gatlin Jez takes on new roles on boards of higher education and anti-poverty organizations; California Competes makes plans to grow.

New Leadership Appointments
California Competes: Higher Education for a Strong Economy Executive Director Dr. Su Jin Gatlin Jez strengthened the organization’s position as a strategic partner on higher education and workforce issues with elections to the following leadership and advisory councils:

Dr. Jez began serving on these boards and councils between February to April 2022. These appointments are in addition to continued service on the Cradle-to-Career Data System Governing Board, Public Policy Institute of California’s Higher Education Center Advisory Board, and the Campaign for College Opportunity’s Policy Research Advisory Board.

These appointments serve as a testament to Dr. Jez’s intellect, thought leadership, and commitment to practical solutions to achieve equitable outcomes,” says Elizabeth Hill, Chair of California Competes Leadership Council and former California Legislative Analyst. “On behalf of the Leadership Council, we are proud to see her leadership and insights sought after for higher education and workforce development issues at the regional, state, and national level.”
