California Student Aid Commission Meeting

California Competes Policy and Research Analyst Gail Yen provided public comment at the California Student Aid Commission's special meeting on February 20, 2020. She spoke to the need to reform the state's Cal Grant program to increase eligibility among California's 12 million adults with no college degree.

"The viability of our state’s economy depends on making college affordable for this population, and expanding financial aid eligibility will help them continue on the pathway to a degree that would help boost their individual and familial prosperity," said Ms. Yen.

California Competes Executive Director Dr. Su Jin Gatlin Jez is a member of the Cal Grant Reform Workgroup. The Work Group was convened to make policy recommendations for modernizing state financial aid.
