At the California Higher Education Basic Needs Alliance (CHEBNA) 2026 Annual Conference:
- California Competes Senior Policy and Research Analyst Max Wolf-Johnson and Senior Policy Fellow Laura Szabo-Kubitz led a session entitled “Streamlining Student Supports: A Policy Agenda for Holistic Student Success,” which will focus on our work to develop coordinated plans to streamline California students’ access to public investments and California ASPIRES, a coalition that will take the next steps.
- California Competes CEO Su Jin Jez spoke on a panel, also about California ASPIRES’s work.
- Alliance Lead and EdTrust-West Senior Policy Analyst Maya Valree and EdTrust-West Director of P–16 Research Melissa Valenzuela-Stookey presented on The California Alliance for Student Parent Success’s forthcoming statewide resource hub, a first-of-its-kind dashboard to map and compare student parent supports across institutions, gathering feedback before its release.
- Maya also joined CHEBNA’s Student Parent Symposium, which consisted of concurrent research presentations, allowing participants to hear different student parent research from multiple presenters.
