Senate Budget Subcommittee 1 on Education

California Competes provided public comment during the Senate Subcommittee 1 on Education's public hearing on Calbright College on February 13, 2020. Our comments focused on how Calbright can support adult students by working with faculty and existing programs at the California Community Colleges.

California has 12 million adults aged 25-64 without a degree and 4 million who have started college but did not complete. "Our current system of higher education is not designed to serve these students and Calbright has a tremendous opportunity to provide a pathway to and through higher education by reimagining online learning," Ms. Yen told state senators.
