Governor’s May Revise Aims to Protect Higher Education Investments

In the 2023–24 May Revise, the Governor demonstrated a strong commitment to preserving investments in higher education by allocating $40.4 billion to postsecondary education initiatives, even in the face of a growing budget deficit. This substantial allocation, accounting for over 13 percent of the $306.5 billion state budget, underscores the Governor’s understanding of the transformative benefits of empowering Californians through education, fostering a skilled workforce, and fueling economic growth.
