Public Affairs Show Features California Competes’ Dr. Valerie Lundy-Wagner

/

Senior Research Analyst Dr. Valerie Lundy-Wagner joined host John Howard and Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell for Politics on Tap #109. Their discussion covered key higher education issues policymakers are grappling with in Sacramento this spring. The topics include higher education access, dual enrollment, proposed SAT/ACT legislation, stronger coordination, and building a statewide longitudinal data system in California.

Right now, we aren’t able to answer, ‘How many high school seniors graduate from California public high schools and go to California public colleges?’ We have no idea about that right now.

Dr. Lundy-Wagner explores how a data system could help answer critical questions to shed light on how students move through the state’s education-to-employment pipeline and where they slip through the cracks.
