Carolina joins California Competes as a Research Fellow through Sacramento State’s Pathways Fellows Program. This program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences, prepares upper level undergraduates and master's level students of any major to engage in rigorous, high quality educational research and enter a doctoral level program.

Prior to joining California Competes as a Research Fellow, Carolina took part in several undergraduate research projects focused on education. Her tasks included identifying and reviewing literature, translating documents, and transcribing interviews.

What motivates you to advance California Compete’s mission?

I strongly believe that education should be a right, not a privilege. Everyone should have access to a valuable education, regardless of their background or circumstance. As a current student, I have no idea what my life would be like if I didn’t continue my education. I have been given countless opportunities to grow, learn, and be a better person. I have seen the benefits of going to college from personal experience and I believe that every Californian deserves the chance to have those same opportunities and benefits.
