What motivates you to advance California Competes' mission?

I moved to the United States seeking educational and economic prosperity, which were limited for women in my home country. I dreamt of the opportunities a college degree would present. But upon moving here, I quickly realized it would be a tumultuous path. As an immigrant and first-generation student, I learned to navigate the unwritten rules of a complex, educational system. Now, I hope to alleviate this burden for others so that education can truly be a right, not a privilege. We all deserve an education that shapes sustainable change for our communities.
