Natalie Hicks

Natalie Hicks is the administrative assistant at California Competes. In this position, she supports the organization's leaders and plays a key role in coordinating efforts relating to operations, communications, fundraising, and finance management.

Natalie has an extensive career in the apparel industry working for design studios in the areas of business operations and technical design. Before joining California Competes, Natalie was the Operations Manager for JEAJA Studio, a Bay Area-based design studio that values ethical labor practices for garment workers and sustainable production. Prior to that, she served in a similar capacity at Brooklyn Haberdashery where she managed the design, sales, and communications teams; resulting in the company reaching its first $1m revenue milestone in 2019.

She holds a BA degree in Fashion Design from the Illinois Institute of Art, Chicago.

What motivates you to advance California Competes's mission?

I tend to gravitate towards mission-driven work. Higher education is a human right that can change a life, a family, a community, and, in turn, the world. Being on a team that is impactful in this important work gives me a sense of purpose and drive.
