Uplifting California’s Student Parents Convening

/

Investing in the postsecondary success of parents with young children can increase attainment of quality postsecondary credentials leading to good jobs, better health outcomes and improved family economic security across generations.

On November 15, 2021, California Competes, Ascend at the Aspen Institute, Tipping Point Community, The Education Trust—West, The Michelson 20MM Foundation and Blue Shield of California Foundation convened a group of early childhood and postsecondary leaders, including student parents themselves, across the state of California to discuss the student parent population, build awareness, and create opportunities for collaboration to support parents enrolled in postsecondary pathways and their families.

California Competes Executive Director Dr. Su Jin Gatlin Jez presented the keynote and highlighted policies and strategies to evolve systems to better address student parent needs.

Stay tuned for an in-person convening in 2022.
