10th Anniversary Interview Series: Dr. Estela Mara Bensimon

/

The California Competes 10th anniversary interview series continues this month with a conversation between Executive Director Dr. Su Jin Gatlin Jez and Dr. Estela Mara Bensimon, University Professor and Founding Director of the Center for Urban Education (CUE) at the University of Southern California. Dr. Bensimon spoke at length about the evolution of equity on college campuses over the last 20 years and how changing faculty mindsets can further meaningful change.

Though Dr. Bensimon retired from CUE and the University of Southern California at the end of 2020, her scholarship continues to impact the national conversation on race and equity in higher education—for students, administrators, faculty, and staff. Dr. Bensimon is also the chair of the board of directors of the Campaign for College Opportunity, an elected member of the National Academy of Education, and an elected Fellow of the American Education Research Association.

Video of the conversation is now available on the California Competes blog.
