Research Points to Childcare Affordability as Key to Unlocking College Pathways for California Parents
Our latest report, as highlighted in Inside Higher Ed , shines a spotlight on parents of young children without degrees in the Bay Area, many of whom already have some college experience and could complete with the right supports. However, high childcare costs are blocking their path, limiting upward mobility and career progression. More than 100,000 Bay Area adults with children want to pursue college but cite childcare as a barrier to enrollment.
Supporting these parents to and through college strengthens the economy and increases family stability at a critical stage of their children’s lives. Explore the findings and recommendations for expanding pathways for these parents and how it can advance economic mobility and support inclusive economic growth.
